Who are the "Real Webfoots?"
The nickname for Oregon's first sports teams was "Webfoots," coined by longtime Oregonian sports editor L. H. Gregory. The name originated from a group of fishermen from the coast of Massachusetts whose descendants settled in Oregon's Willamette Valley. When the University of Oregon was founded in 1876, Webfoots was the natural choice for the school's nickname, because of Oregon's reputation for wet weather.

Webfoots are a renowned group of winter bicyclists from northern California known for their weekend excursions in the cruelest and most dangerous of elements Mother Nature can unleash.
They have become the envy of many
organized bicycle groups because of their lack of "Clique" requirment to ride with them and also because they are not suppose to be like those of the "Elite Sect" but are found to have just as much endurance and mojo as those that would stub there noses at them, considering them misfits of the bicycle community.
Rag Tag as they may seem as you watch them crossing through town to some distant mountain trails on the fringe in pouring rain, high winds and freezing temperatures you can't help think how much they resemble this years World Series Champions.
Ride On Webfoots -Ride On!
